Faith Formation Study Group

The Rev. Ed Evans leads scripture study each Sunday morning from 8:45 to 9:45 am.

Download these notes and bring them with you for our Sunday morning discussion, or use them for your own personal study and meditation.

2011

This fall, our format is changing from the previous Lectionary-based scripture study to the acclaimed "Living the Questions 2" video series of theological discussion and reflection.

From the resource materials:
Living the Questions is not intended to provide answers but to become a part of the ongoing reformation of Christianity in the 21st century. It is a tool to help open conversation, give progressively minded Christians (and other people of faith) an opportunity to network and, perhaps most importantly, give them the assurance that they are not alone in their beliefs.
I will be providing study notes by email before each week's class. Please read through the notes carefully, and come prepared for the discussion BEFORE we meet.

Let's go on this spiritual journey together, "in a safe environment where each person has permission to ask the questions they've always wanted to ask but have been afraid to voice them for fear of being thought a heretic. Living the Questions provides a context where people can be liberated from stagnant cliches and pursue their questions and seek to inform their understanding as part of a life-long spiritual journey."

If you would like to receive copies of the study materials, please contact the church office.

March 7 We'll be taking a video walk around the world to learn about the many ways and places in which the United Church of Christ in partnership with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) are jointly engaged in the mission enterprise of the church.

I think you will be delighted and filled with pride to learn how the church is helping to be a critical presence in the lives of so many people in need in our world.

February   Beginning the first Sunday in February, Rev. Ed Evans will be sharing "Connecting Threads," a seven-part video that will take us on a trip around the world featuring the incredible ways the United Church of Christ and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) serve together as a critical presence in the lives of people around the world.

Join the group for a lively and stimulating journey of discovery to learn how our congregation is walking with and supporting our international partners, missionaries, volunteers, interns and associates in 68 countries around the world. Rev. Ed brings an extensive background to the discussion, having served for many years on the Board of Directors of the United Church Board for World Ministries, chairperson of the East Asia and Pacific Committee, and is currently chairperson of the Global Ministries Committee of the Pacific Northwest Conference of the UCC.
